Title

The Walter Jones Sandbar Files: Casper's Red-Light District

Description

This record was created to promote an exhibit that was the first of its kind to be presented by the Western History Center. It was a flash pop-up exhibit planned to coincide with the 2023 Casper College Humanities Festival. It was also planned in collaboration with the Natrona County Public Library's Book Club on The Sandbar by Walter Jones. It was curated by 3 Casper College student staff members who selected and reviewed over 70 pieces that were ultimately chosen for display. These students also synthesized and curated an extensive amount of information to go with the exhibit. The culmination of their work was ten individual exhibits inspired by each chapter in the history of Casper's Sandbar District as documented in the early manuscripts, research files, and photographs Walter Jones gifted to the repository.
